Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn for Teens Mastermind
is based on John C. Maxwell's best-selling leadership book.
The online Mastermind runs over 7 weeks, with a small group of teenagers (12 to 17 years old), each accompanied by a parent, via live Zoom.
The book is designed to inspire and challenge teens to see setbacks as opportunities to grow, learn, and improve.
Here's a quick look at some content. I believe it can be life changing in a positive and sustainable way:
- Have you ever felt like you were not allowed to fail?
- And what happens when you do mess up?
- Or have you ever lost at something that you wanted to win?
- Felt stupid when you were wrong?
If yes, then this book is for you.
If you're ever going to lose-and you are, because everyone does-then why not put a positive spin on it?
How do you do that? ...By learning
from it.
We need to change the way we look at our losses or mistakes and develop some important qualities that will help us respond better to them. Most of us need someone to help us figure out how to do that. That is the value of a MASTERMIND!
This series is facilitated by Jeanine Sciacca, a John Maxwell Certified Coach, Speaker and Trainer AND Laura Carniel, a youth leader with lived experience in mastermind programs and a passion for empowering young people.
The ideas in this book can be put into action straight away and are designed to help everyone develop lifelong habits and values such as a growth mindset, personal responsibility, resilience and love of learning!

What Teens Are Saying
"Now when I'm faced with a problem, I evaluate it and use it as an opportunity to grow. I ask myself how can I learn from this?"
"Before doing this Mastermind, I played the victim many times, and I felt sorry for myself. Now I realise that negative experiences don't define me and have learned not to feel sorry for myself but grow and learn from them."
