Every one of us has tough times in our life, so here are some ideas of what you can do when that happens. When things really get tough, go wrong and we feel knocked down by life, (and it happens to absolutely all of us), maybe weâre disappointed, have some failure, self-doubt, lack of self-confidence, whatever it may be â when times get tough, we have two choices, and this is what I want to talk about.
We can either keep focusing on whatâs wrong and create more negative momentum, and then all we are doing is we are prolonging our bad experience. Sometimes it can go on so long it can lead to a feeling of being overwhelmed, cause anxiety and even depression. It can be really serious and quite dangerous if you donât have a way to rectify it.
Hereâs my tip for you.
When times get tough itâs an opportunity for you to grow. It is an opportunity for you to get stronger and tougher (more resilient). When times are tough, it is important to have the awareness that you have got negative t...
Why is visualising so much more powerful than using affirmations?
I love affirmations and I think they are great. However, I want to tell you what is really, really the most powerful way to programme your mind to make your mind your magnet to attract into your life what it is that you want.
Right now, as I am talking to you, my brain waves are at a certain frequency (cycles per second), and they are quite fast right now, probably between 20 and 30 and thatâs called the Beta brainwave state. Iâm using my five senses in this Beta state; I am looking, I am hearing, I am smelling, tasting and touching. In that state, you have to use a lot of repetition to make impressions on the sub-conscious mind. Itâs like banging a piece of wood on a table; you keep banging and banging to make a dent in that table.
If I was to ask you to close your eyes, relax, take a few deep breaths, really become calm and deeply relaxed, your brainwaves would slow down and they would go into what we call the
...Have you ever heard this saying before, âComparison is the thief of joyâ?
Joy, my friends, is so important in our lives. Itâs what makes our lives fulfilling, happy, rich, memorable and worth living.
If you have children, know children, teach children, have nieces or nephews or grandkids, help them understand this concept from the youngest age, so that they donât struggle with the feeling of jealousy, envy or feeling inferior. There are three principals which I am going to share on how to overcome this issue of when people compare themselves to others. Comparison can make us feel diminished, less confident, less valuable, envious or jealous (which are very unhealthy emotions). The good news is that we can overcome this issue and teach it to our children.
The antidote to âComparison is the thief of joyâ:
1. Have a higher awareness. The minute you find yourself comparing and you donât feel a positive emotion, be aware that you are comparing and making yourself feel worse. So aw

Have you ever heard about the book âThe Power of Nowâ by Eckhart Tolle?
If you havenât, itâs highly recommended. If you have, this will be a good reminder to practise âthe power of now.â and for those who havenât read it, this will help you.Â
The author explains that most of the time, you and I, are either in our head thinking about something in the future, worrying about something, or hoping for something, or we are living in the past. We could be driving, we could even be in company with people and we think about something that just happened (whether itâs positive or negative) and we relive those moments and re-evaluate them, but we are not very present.
So, in your life, especially if you are worrying about something, the best antidote to overcome worry is to practise living in the present moment, âThe Power of the Nowâ. What that means is, the next time you catch yourself not being in the present moment, try to be as aware, as much as possible if you are living in t

Did you know that self-confidence is probably the single most important ingredient for success?
Iâll give you a quick story to illustrate this: When they hire soccer players at the professional level, they look at things like experience, (how many games they have played and how well they have done), they look at skill, (actual ball skills), and they look at self-confidence, which they can measure with a test.
Do you know which one they hire on? Well interestingly enough, they hire on selfâconfidence, and Iâll tell you why. Even if you have all the skill in the world (letâs talk about soccer players), ball skills or great experience in playing many, many games, but lack self-confidence, there is no way that you are going to be a better player than someone who is full of self-confidence and just needs to practice to develop more skill and more experience. So when it comes to self-confidence, itâs one of the most important things we need to not only instil in our children, to make t

So many people hear from so many other people, or personal development gurus, that they should visualise daily. Maybe some of you do visualise daily and Iâll say, âWell done, and keep going!â, and maybe some of you donât visualise daily but you do it from time to time, and then maybe some of you never use the technique at all.
I want to demonstrate something very quickly and I really want you to do this. As you watch the video, stop and pause it, but try this yourself. Stand in this position and turn yourself as far as you can and keep moving the arm until you cannot move it any more, and measure where it canât go any further and what it points to.
Close your eyes, and donât move your body, and visualise yourself turning right round much further than that and visualise just for a few seconds, âYes Iâve gone much furtherâ.
Then open your eyes and do the very same thing, and I can guarantee you will go quite a substantial distance further from just one quick five to ten-second v

When you want to achieve a goal, or accomplish something, the very, very âFirst Stepâ that is absolutely necessary to be successful, is Desire.
In the wonderful book âThink and Grow Richâ, it says, âStep One is Desireâ.
A little bit of fire makes a little bit of heat. You canât just have a desire, you have got to have a burning desire â an all-consuming passion for this thing that you want.
Many people say they want something; they want to reduce 5 kilos â they just never do. They want to quit smoking â they continue smoking. The reason that this kind of thing happens is that they do not have a strong enough desire.
Desire is something that you can intentionally fuel yourself because it is actually a mindset that you develop by saying, âI really want this thing!â, and every single day you convince yourself that you want this thing.
There is a wonderful story about all these boats with people on them that came to this island which they wanted to conquer, but on the island, the

A question that I get asked a lot is, âHow often should I meditate?â
Well, the answer is, daily.  If you can do it twice or three times a day, thatâs even better.
If you are not already meditating I would like to suggest that you adopt meditation, as a practice. Teach your children to meditate, from the youngest age you can. Free apps like âSmiling Mindsâ or âHeadspaceâ are a wonderful way to introduce meditation. Be mindful that you need to lead by example, so be the person that is meditating daily first, because children really learn from what they see and not as much from what they are told to do.
Meditation is one of the most beneficial things that we can do for our entire physical health, for our well-being, and also for us to cope in life. In the Silva Method which is a â4 Day Dynamic Meditationâ programme, every exercise is done in meditation. This is important because the one advantage when we are in meditation that our brain waves are slower, and we have better access

No matter what you are trying to achieve in your life, if you want to have a certain level of success, you need to have a strong degree of discipline.  Discipline is one of the most important qualities that we can all develop because itâs a skill. Let me give you an example, if I lift a weight every day on my one arm; this muscle is going to get bigger. Discipline is the same thing, and to exercise discipline we need to use our will-power.  Many people struggle with will-power or self-discipline, and it is a very necessary ingredient in our lives for more success. When you want to change an area in your life that you feel that you have been struggling with, and you donât know how to do it (perhaps itâs your health, or a relationship), I would highly recommend meditating and visualising daily, being consistent and intentional.
What needs to come before any discipline can take place? Â âCommitmentâ.
The first commitment you need to make is to yourself. Give yourself an inst

How many thoughts a day do you think we actually have?
Well, studies show we have about 70,000 thoughts a day. Thatâs interesting, but what is even more interesting is, is what percentages of those thoughts are negative. Any guesses? They say that about 80 â 87 per cent of our thoughts are negative. Wow! Surprisingly, they go undetected by the conscious mind.
What this means is, we think these 70,000 thoughts a day, and more than 80 per cent of them are negative, and we are not even aware of it.
We all know negative thoughts create negative outcomes. Positive thoughts create positive outcomes. You can never, ever, get a positive outcome from a negative thought. So if you want to improve your life with better results, better relationships, better physical health, better success or better spirituality, whatever it may be, we need to have more positive thoughts. We will not be able to get positive outcomes without having more positive thoughts.
In the Silva Method we have
